“SUSTAINABLE FASHION IS NOT ONLY THE TREND BUT THE FUTUTRE”
Sustainable fashion is a movement and process of fostering change to fashion products and fashion system towards greater ecological integrity and social justice. The development of human race has been inevitably associated with the ever-changing fashion industry. The prevailing environmental concerns urge to attune the diverse practices, contributing to eco-pollution, toward an improved health of ecosystem. Fashion industry is one among the key attribute to environmental pollution, therefore, entails the adoption of ecologically sustainable exercises in fashion to dampen the ominous ecosphere transformations. The measures to achieve a sustainable and eco—friendly growth in fashion calls for a responsibility at both the manufacturer and consumer ends. The fashion companies should ensure the usage of recyclable raw material, eco-friendly processing practices and proper effluent management. The consumer can contribute to sustainable fashion ecosystem by reusing the fashion products as observed in India from ages where the pre-used apparel of elders handed down to Youngers, whoever they fit. This way the demand for the essential wardrobe minimizes which would alleviate the additional burden over the product manufacturing and thereby, averts the ecological cost associated with same.
Presently, fashion industry through various platforms inclined to encourage the use of natural, up cycled or recycled fashion products that at the very least should not harm the ecosystem. Certainly, the emerging concept of ecological sustainability in fashion, demands a coherent and an efficient course of action with stern execution to reify the intended benefits to ecosystem.
